Raised by pre-confederation Newfoundlanders in Ontario, Amy learned various forms of handwork from aunts and grandmothers during trips "home". She divides her time between working with fibre and working as a dance historian and she directs an arts and heritage organization that cares for Canada's dance history. Amy has begun exploring the use of fibre to respond to performance work or tell stories. Newfoundland is a major point of inspiration for that work.
