About the CraftspersonJaclyn Humphries, a contemporary jewellery/textile artist was born in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. Humphries has always had a passion for design and construction and is fascinated by the possibilities of creating beautiful objects. To follow her passion, in 2008 she attended the College of the North Atlantic, St. John's Campus and acquired her Diploma in Textiles. Following graduation, Humphries enrolled at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design University, graduating in 2011 with a BFA Interdisciplinary, focusing on jewellery design and metalsmithing. Her jewellery is inspired by forms found in nature and everyday life, with many of those inspirations stemming from her home province traditions. She enjoys using colour in her work and utilizing a combination of materials, including metals, enamel, and fabrics. She has an ongoing involvement in the craft community and enjoys sharing her innovative ideas and designs. Humphries is always experimenting with new materials and methods, driven to continue learning and creating and sharing her techniques and ideas with others.
