Overview & Purpose
The Craft Council Gallery is committed to raising the profile of fine craft and expanding the boundaries of contemporary and traditional craft practice through exhibition opportunities. In alignment with our mandate to serve all regions of the province, CCNL will be hosting a Members Showcase in the Central region of the island of Newfoundland. It will showcase 10-12 of our members’ most innovative works at the new Clarenville Events Centre Gallery during high-traffic August and September months. The objective is to demonstrate the boundless possibilities of Craft and to inspire both new and seasoned artists to expand their own practice. As such, the selection committee will curate the most limitless and impactful pieces from those submitted for consideration.
Clarenville Gallery
The showcase will take place in the new Clarenville Events Centre Gallery space. The Gallery is an exhibition space within the Clarenville Events Centre that provides visibility for the arts in the Clarenville Region, by creating a space where artists, citizens, and visitors can enjoy exhibitions and related programming.
The Gallery is an 800 sq.ft. space that connects the main entrance of the Events Centre and The Theatre, a professional 400+ seat theatre. It has 45 linear feet of hanging space, and a professional hanging system with adjustable lighting, for 2-dimensional works. There is a display cabinet that can hold small 3-dimensional works.
