Job Title: Program Assistant
Location: Craft Council, 155 Water Street
Hours: Full-Time / Seasonal. 30 - 35 hours per week from June - August. Daytime hours. Must be available to work weekends.

The Craft Council of Newfoundland and Labrador is a member based nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the craft industry. Our clay studio, gallery, and shop provide a space for both artists and visitors to explore and celebrate craft. We believe in the power of art to bring people together and are excited to expand our reach through engaging programming and outreach efforts.
Position Overview:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and creative individual to assist with community programming and outreach this summer! As a Program Assistant, you’ll play a key role in supporting our clay studio workshops, gallery exhibitions, and shop events, helping to connect our work with the local community. This is a great opportunity for someone interested in arts administration, event coordination, and building connections within the craft community.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in planning and executing community-based events, workshops, and programming related to the clay studio, gallery exhibitions, and shop
- Help organize and facilitate hands-on clay workshops for all ages and skill levels
- Support gallery openings and exhibitions including event setup, and guest engagement
- Collaborate with staff to develop content for social media and email newsletters promoting programs and events
- Help maintain the gallery and studio spaces, ensuring they are welcoming and organized
- Support shop operations, including sales, inventory assistance, and customer service.
- Provide administrative support as needed, including preparing materials for events, processing registrations, and assisting with program evaluations
Qualifications:
- Passion for craft, art, and community engagement
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Comfortable working with a diverse group of individuals, including children and families
- Ability to multitask and stay organized in a dynamic, creative environment
- Interest or experience in ceramics, craft, or gallery spaces is a plus
- Prior experience in event planning, customer service, or arts administration is beneficial
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Enthusiasm for learning and sharing craft-related skills
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 50lbs
- Must be eligible for Canada Summer Jobs
