Established in the fall of 1976, the St. John's Guild of Embroiderers Inc. was created as a non-profit organization to encourage and promote the practice and knowledge of the art of embroidery in all its forms; to have a fellowship of persons who enjoy needlework and wish to learn and share their knowledge; and, thereby, to work towards maintaining higher standards of design, color and workmanship. During the residency, Guild members stitched illustrations of codfish in a variety of techniques and styles of embroidery. The cod are complemented with other embroidered works in the same technique.
