October 14 & 15 10 am - 4pm 30 minute lunch break Instructor: Rod Beck The Functional Teapot is considered by many potters as the most difficult construction in clay. However, with a thorough understanding of functionality, volume, balance and order of construction, the process can be made accessible. This 2 day workshop will introduce participants to teapot design, functionality, and a step-by-step demonstration of a Slab Built Functional Teapot. Techniques: Slab-building, Slip-&-Score, Pulled handles Time Duration: 2 Days Schedule: Day 1: Introduction to Functional Aspects of the Teapot Design and Creation of Paper Mockette Creation of Teapot Components Day 2 : Teapot Assembly and Refinement Intermediate Level: Participants should already have a working knowledge of the properties of clay, slab-building, slip-& score.
